Bridge Connecting Mantšonyane and Thaba-Moea Constituencies Collapsed
It is the responsibility of the government through the Ministry of Public Works to repair and rebuild the roads infrastructure such as bridges and roads destroyed by heavy rains in the entire country. This was said by the Minister of Public Works Honourable Lebohang Monaheng on Thursday 11th February, 2021 during the commencement of reconstruction of the Mantšonyane Bridge.
Due to this collapse, business people and communities of villages such as Methalaneng, Ha Mafa and Lesobeng were left stranded since they could not cross to their homes or access services beyond the river.
The Minister noted that there are many places affected in all ten districts, he therefore pleaded with the nation to be patient since the government is doing everything into their power to attend to all affected areas. During the construction period, 60 people from the constituencies of Thaba-Moea and Mantšonyane will be employed as labourers and the construction is expected to take four weeks. Lesotho has been plagued by heavy rains and floods since December.

Minister of Public Works Honourable Lebohang Monaheng,
Deputy Minister of Local Government and Chieftainship Honourable Selemo Mangobe
and The Member of Parliament (Thaba-Moea) Honourable Sethunts’a Peea.
